Yesterday Diana, Liev, Rugger, Moon, Nicci, Erin, Esmelyn, Izi, Jack (with crew Dora), Erica, Lisa, Ella, Lucy and Sea came for our B22 course 2 with wind from South West and 21knots.
The rolling restarts felt yesterday a bit strange. They started very slow and went quite long and i thought i should ask for restarting of our race area again. But LL wont do additional restarts while the rolling restarts are still running and then my dinner time came. Next time when i get the same feelung i will ask for additional restarts.
– 14 boats are definetely too many for Izi’s PC to handle. She had not really control when she crossed the line, the responding time of her boat was up to 20 seconds and short before the first waypoint she was turned into the southern sims and crashed like last week. And believe me she has her graphic settings already at he minimum.
– Diana got pulled off the boat in the first quarter of the race several times and gave up.
– Moon got pulled off the boat during the race several times, but finished bravely.
– Rugger crashed in the last quarter off the race and couldnt come back.
– Ella messaged us on the first leg that she get stopped to 0 knots at every crossing, relogged and sailed at the end of the fleet. Sge nearly caught Nicci in the end on the finish line.
It was a strange race with all the different issues and i really felt sad for the ones who had them. But it wasnt all bad. The others had a great race and didnt really have issues. So overall it was an exciting race.
Sea, Jack and Ella made the first group at the start and crossed the start line nearly parallel with the best timing, a second group with Nicci, Liev, Moon, Lucy and Lisa and a third group with Rugger, Erin, Izi, Erica and Esmelyn followed and then Diana at the end. My screen didnt show all clearly and showed some boats flying as usual.
The first leg is a downwind leg with spin and it gives all many oiptions to wind shadow or get wind shadowed. While Ella already got stopped at every sim crossing to 0 knots Jack could sail away from the fleet. The fleet behind him got slowed down a bit by the mentioned wind shadows.
Jack took the advantage out of his good start, Ellas bad luck and relog because of her technical issues, the duels in the fleet behind him and sailed slowly away from the fleet meter by meter without making mistakes and won invulnerable.
Nicci went pretty wide at buoy CN, had to turn back for the next downwind leg to buoy OE and lost several positions. Lisa could catch up with Sea and passed her later on the upwind leg to buoy CS. Erin and Moon did the same with Lucy and Rugger, Esmelyn and Erica with Liev and with.
After buoy CS followed a downwind leg to buoy ON. Sea could pass Lisa again and arrived ON before Lisa, but had to turn wide around ON. Lisa turned around ON a lot more narrow and faster and passed Sea again. Moon fell back behind Lucy, Esmelyn, Erica, Rugger, Liev and Nicci caused by one of his several unsits .
Liev didnt want to accept to be passed by Rugger and the two had an exciting duel all the way to buoy OW via buoy ON, CN and IN until Rugger crashed.
After Liev lost his duel partner Rugger he started to chase Erica, could pass her at buoy IS and then aimed for Esmelyn. Moon came back after his last unsit and could pass Nicci again.
On the downwind leg back to the finish line via buoy OW and CS the positions of all sailors stayed stable.
Esmelyn could defend her little lead against Liev until the finish line. But there Liev (not in the next picture), Erica and Esmelyn made it impossible for me to get them all 3 fast enough into their finish picture. They used the full width of our race line and i didnt have enough time after Erin and Lucy finished to get all 3 into the next picture.
Congrats to Jack for his win, sorry for all the ones who had bad luck and technical issues yesterday and thank for all the others for an exciting race.
And a big thank to Esmelyn who made the long video out of her boat. If you have time enough get a fresh coffee and enjoy it.
