Cruise Diary: Day 839

Ohmygodohmygodohmygod!!! Will this shit never stop? Only a few days without restrictions have passed and people can’t help themselves and start spreading again. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Ok, the first story is boring, and the more spectacular second story lacks some needed information. For example would it be helpful to know how the spread on the cruise ship manifests itself. Is the whole freezer compartment already filled with dead bodies or does everybody on board just feel slightly under the weather?

I mean, when you write alarming reports why are you holding back the most important facts? I know SAfricans aren’t the best communicators but these stories are written by professional journos, so will you please do your job correctly.

Hope to not see you tomorrow. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Panic and fear. Panic and fear…..
This is *insane* at this point.

We have a cruise coming up in April 2023. Booked it 2 years ago and I am still holding my breath to see if it gets cancelled due to …. Panic and fear.

    • As I wrote, KShai, one never knows how many bodies they keep in their fridge. In that case the panic and fear is real and follows a stringent logic. In case they are all just suffering a bad cold it’s propaganda. And bad articles like that one aren’t helpful in any way. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Booked a cruise 2 years ago? That’s commitment. I don’t even know what I’m doing later today – and you plan 2 years ahead. Whoa! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

      • LOL!
We plan all our trips years out. Only way we can afford them.
We have the 2023 cruise booked and payments are almost done.
We have also been saving for 2024 Disney for a year already and haven’t even booked that because we can’t until next year sometime when Disney hotel booking opens up.
We already have a 2025 trip to Turks & Caicos planned and will begin saving for it as soon as the cruise is paid. While simultaneously saving for Disney which is the most expensive trip we will do in our lives.
We also have a 2026 trip to Costa Rica planned. We know where we will be staying, but don’t need to worry about saving for it just yet thankfully. Lol.
We are planning for Egypt in 2029. And yes… Disney will literally be more expensive than flying to Egypt for 9 days.

As far as cruises, we have the 2023 and are hopeful to do a 2027 Mediterranean one maybe.

As far as fear and panic, I believe it to be unjustified which is exactly why the articles you reference don’t give specifics.

One of my cruise groups I’m in, several people were talking about their covid positive experiences on an Alaskan cruise. 20+ people reported being mildly sick, like a cold.

This long into this ridiculous over inflated fear mongering should only prove how overinflated fear mongering all of this actually was.

My husband and I both got Covid early this year. We were both required to be vaccinated to travel to Jamaica last year. We were both mildly sick. He took 3 days to get better. I did take a bit longer, having a fever for almost a week.

If everyone is now required to be vaccinated and 48hr test before cruising, then yes… It’s all overinflated fear mongering.

Our cruise is 14 nights and at that point the only concern I really have is that it will be cancelled due to fear.
