Lisa, Reni, Lucy, Ella, Nicci, Laured, Amy (with crew Ester), Erin, Moon, Rugger and Juicy came yesterday to race our normal course with wind from NE and 21knots again.
In these times you can have sunny weather conditions but never overall. There are always local showers. Laured crashed in the middle of the race, came back but didnt finish frustrated (understandable). Amy and Erin missed the start line because of lag at last sim crossing before the start line. And Amy gave up later because she had too much lag.
Short before the last buoy CS Nicci and Erin hit the dangerous cross there and crashed. For Nicci it seems to be her favourite cross and thats why i am thinking about of giving it the name “Nicci – Memorial Cross”.
They all started a little later than normal, but all very close together (all within 10sec). Only Erin and Amy had their lag issues.
They arrived close together at the first buoy CS and started their first long upwind leg to buoy OE.
Lisa second after Moon at the first buoy CS tacked earlier than Moon to buoy OE and left his “battle area” to sail free. It worked pretty well, because she passed him on that leg.
Behind the two leaders Reni stayed longer on starboard tack and tried to force the others (all already on port tack) to give way and slow down a bit. But all could keep their courses and passed Reni by only a few inches. I didnt see that Reni changed her course a little to avoid a collision and so i decided all was clear.
Going around buoy OE Nicci left fair enough room for Erin, but then she forgot to turn around the buoy herself for a bit and some more could pass her.
Laured crashed unfortunately on the way to buoy OW and Amy gave up because of too much lag.
Reni got some technical issues between buoy IN and IS and fell back behind Rugger. The rest of the fleet could manage to keep their positions into the finish. Only Nicci and Erin crashed by hitting the (“Nicci Memorial Cross”) just before last buoy CS.
A quick summary could be: checkered race, means mostly sunny with local showers and exciting duels. The fleet comes closer together.
