Race Day 9 with Bandit 22LTE at Saint Aubrey

The weather looked fine all day and it looked a long time as it would stay like that. Lisa, Adeli, Reni, Lucy, Nicole, Erika, Laured, Nicci, Moon, Rugger, Juicy and Cilian came for another exciting race day on our normal course again with wind from North East and 21knots. Sometimes in the middle of the race we lost Laured and Cilian by crash and only short before the last buoy CS Nicci and Juicy as well.

fleet at the briefing

The start went pretty good and first 10 sailors crossed the line within 14sec. Only Nicci and Cilian follwed a bit later.

Lisa and Adeli took quite early after a good start the lead and turned first around the first buoy as well. During the race they sailed slowly away from the fleet and only Reni could follow them on sight.

at buoy CS after the first leg

They were all close together at the first buoy (CS) again. Most turned from there first a to the north and only a very few took the more southern route. Moon was one of them and drifted a bit too much to the south on this upwind leg and crossed the line much too early. I edited his result manually to his right finish place (approved by finish video of Hakiria).

Reni sailed slowly away from the first group of chasers and tried really hard to catch up with Lisa and Adeli. But the two in front still fighting for the lead managed to keep Reni behind them.

Lucy osccilated a bit between the 3 musketeers in the front and the chasers behind her and it seemed she couldnt decide which groups she liked more. Sometimes catching up with Reni and sometimes caught a bit more by Moon and the others.

Congrats to the first 3: Lisa, Adeli and Reni. Besides that i wanna name my two heroes of the day: Erika and Nicci.
1. Erika who got up at 4am her time to join our race. What a great attitude (I wouldnt even make it to the startline at that time of the night).
2. Nicci the hero with out a medal sailed great after her slow start and passed a lot before she crashed. What a shame.

Stay all safe and healthy and hope to see you back next week.

hugs and kisses

  1. \o/ 12 (twelve) boats at the line! \o/ Bianca, can it be your fleet is growing all the time? I guess you’re doing something exremely right with your races. Can’t just be the exciting boat and locaton. I guess it’s the courses you laid out and the way you RD and judge and avoid stress for the racers as far as possible.
