Yesterday we had 10 boats in the race and all, yes all finished. Lisa, Yvani, Jenna, Lucy, Julie, Nicole, Sea, Magalie, Hwem and Moon raced our B25 course with wind South West and 18 knots.
The Leaders of the Topless Cruise opened a new chapter in this story and its not a nice one. But i will tell you more about that later.
Wind from the South West is the most tricky one to start with to the South, but all did it very well and very fair.
You see here a motorboat at the side. That was the fastest boat in the Topless cruise and stopped respectful at the side and let the race fleet pass. Unfortunately i dont know who the driver was, but big thanks for this respectful waiting.
There were later two others. One “Topless Rambo” in a black B22LTE did 2 circles through the fleet and it was not because of lag or a because of a crash (no simboarder near). That was on purpose, but fortunately he didnt really hit our racers. But shortly after that another “Topless Rambo” in an Flying Shadow tacked in front of Nicole, rammed her and pushed her a couple of meters to the North. They all got a shout that there is a race going on, but they seemed not to respect others and already copied the attitude of their leaders, except the ONE in the motorboat.
Shortly after this i got disconnected by sl. So i missed more of the boats doing the northern zigzag leg and the finishes of the first 4 boats: Lisa, Moon, Yvani and Jenna. But i got the close finish of Lucy, Julie, Nicole, Sea and Magali. Well my lag helped a bit to let this picture look more dramatic, but it looks exciting, doesnt it?
Lisa sailed in front right from the start to the finish a perfect race. Congrats for that. Behind her Moon, Yvani and Jenna had some little duells and Lucy, Julie, Nicole, Sea and Magali survived the “Topless Rambos” and changed their positions several times during the race.
You might miss Hwem in this report. Sorry Hwem i missed you as well during trying to keep the Cruisers out of the way and to watch the Duells, but i promise i will get you next time.

As promised at the end some more words about the attitude of the Leaders of the Topless Cruise and their Cruisers. We have changed our start time to 30min later to avoid the Cruise, but they have chosen their route yesterday very well to disturb us again on purpose:
A Cruise takes normally 1-1,5 hours. They started 30min before us and our race takes about 30min. I expected them running into our race when we enter on the way back Dunai area. Some of the Cruisers were faster and met our fleet earlier and some others met us as expected (as mentioned earlier).
The Topless Leader promised some weeks ago that the cruisers will follow the RL Sailing Rules and wont let the Racers just pass. Maybe this experienced Topless Leader and Race Director for so many years has a different rule book, but i never read that it is allowed to do several circles through a fleet and try to hit them or tack in front of another boat and ram it.
Its really a shame that some still think they are the most important Gods here and can change the rules as they need them and dont need to care at all about others, but only about themselves and their profits. Shall we bet this wasnt the last chapter in this Story?

10 boats? 10 fukn boats? Racing? From TrYC? Are our races now sexy like STDs? I gotta get my shit together and finally join you lot.
About the cruise shit I gotta say, even if I don’t respect a race as such, I’m still subject to the normal ruleset. Which can be tricky if I have a different wind than the racers. But most important rule is to steer clear of others and don’t harrass or endanger them.
In the end it’s all about respect and tolerance.

and well if you are a normal human then you are right and its all about respect and tolerance, but if you are a profit chasing Egoist looking only at statistics and most impotant thing is to have most boats in races not caring about lag, chaotic starts, too small start sims, too narrow lines or the fun for the sailors then you cant tolerate others parallel.

As someone on the Topless Cruise – although I like to think of myself more like “Topless Bambi” than a “Topless Rambo”, I am very disappointed at the attitude of some of my fellow sailors, based on this description. Some just wish to get to the party as soon as possible and use 50kt winds and constantly changing wind direction to be permanently running downwind! I am glad though that the motorboat driver was respectful at least.
For my own part, I would say that we have NOT been warned of a potential collision course with the TrYC by the Topless Leaders, despite it being a fairly regular possibility due to the proximity to the launch/party site. Only because I have seen this issue occur before and only because I was paying attention to Bianca’s message in the SL Sailing Association’s chat did I know to take care around the Dunai area. Therefore, please do not judge all the Cruisers by the poor example set by some.
As it happened, I had my camera trained on the TrYC racing line as I sailed westward along the Bingo Strait towards Dunai; I deliberately sailed further to the south to avoid the racers and managed to not even have to stop. It is possible, with care, to use the same area at the same time, although it would seem best to avoid coinciding because apparently not everyone can be sensible.
The person ramming Nicole cannot be defended, but with regards to the black B22 LTE doing two circles through the TrYC race, all I can say is that I have myself sometimes accidentally lag-spun like that in the middle of a region without any proximity to the sim boundaries. I don’t know why it happens and it’s annoying but it does. It’s a moot point, however, because that person shouldn’t have been so close to TrYC to have that issue interfering with the race, even accidentally.
Here’s to hoping for more harmonious racing/cruising in the future!

if it sounded that i call all Topless Cruisers Rambos then please excuse me. I didint want to give this Impression. I know that in nearly every cruise are some sailors i really dont know why they do sail this cruise. They could just go to the party if that is their main reason for it. I dont blame most of the Cruisers because i know the majority are respectful like you are (But like always in life a bad minority causes the bad Reputation for the good majority), I blame the cuise directors who dont care about respect for others and say they have been there first so they have the older Rights.
I dont wonder that your cruise directors didnt mention our race. After i asked for excatly this favor 9 weeks ago already, they told me they wont do it because no Cruiser has to give ROW on public LL Waters to Racers.
So i discussed it with our racing group if all agree when we start 30min later. Then the Cruise can have crossed our Course and only some late Starters might be in our way, who can be given an advice in that moment. They all agreed.
Unfortunately the new route was Chosen that it ran into our finsh time at Dunai. And the two who i mentioned ran into us did that really on purpose. the B22 did two nearly perfect 360° with the right sail Adjustments and the one on the FS waited with his tack until he could ram our Racer. No technical issue could be seen because they just continued with perfect sailing Right after that Action.
A big thank and a big hug to you for this great comment. I hope more of the Cruisers are like you, will read this and will help with respect and tolerance that we both can have the fully fun in this area at the same time.

Thx for the respectful behaviour on the water, Topless Bambi. Please be advised most of TrYC race courses are venturing far out into Bingo Strait and racers only spend, like, 2 minutes in the Dunais, the time it needs to get out of and back into Triumphal. Back in my active time as TrYC RD I even had races starting at the Farragut line and going around Nautilus City or up to a networked Line in Dire Strait. So we were mingling with the Topless Cruise all the time … only there was no Topless Cruise around back then. 😉
Please tell me, is it true you have to sail the same course each week? 😮

I thought of course that it would be the case, that races go far out of there. I tend to look for a line of green dots on the map anyway and as I’m cruising, not racing, I have time to cam out at others to check for any potential collision courses!
It’s not the same course every single week, but there is a regular rotation of the same courses. Perhaps if you did the cruises for 4-6 weeks, you might go on the same course twice. I certainly wouldn’t just be a member of this particular cruise only for that reason, more variety is needed! I just take any opportunity that I can to cruise with others.
However, not only due to this and the issues mentioned by Bianca, but I’m reconsidering how much further I continue with this. It’s a bit disheartening to see people just using the B-wind like a literal engine and switching wind directions all the time. Fair enough if you’re just cruising solo around the Blake Sea I guess (though I wouldn’t), but it takes no skill to do that and you might as well use a motor boat!

I know from other cruises that unexperienced sailors change the wind for difficult situations, which is totally ok for me. They learn it better after a while, but to change the wind to be the first at the party is just stupid and can be done more easily with a tp.
I know from the monday Topless Sailors CC that there are motorboats as well but they wait for sailboats to catch up, they do it like you for the feeling to cruise in a Group.
The Topless Sailors CC is the original Topless cruise, has 4 cruise director teams, to do every week a different route from different start places to different party places all over sl waters and we have 4 dj ( i am one of them) who alternate every week and give the cruisers the most variety and fun every week.
A lot other cruises do the same and it is actually the idea of cruises to show the sailors in a relaxed group the different areas on sl Waters. This means work for some People every week, but its worth it when you read the reactions of the cruisers during the cruise and after it at the party.

I’ve seen that behaviour in LCC cruises already long ago. Iz’s like ppl, only join for the parties and being social, while I’m known for sometimes logging out or cruising to some other destination after I reached the cruises destination. I’m in it for the sailing.

if someone wanna join the Party its fine with me… easiy tp to Party place and Party… if someone wanna sail the cruise, fine with me as well if they do it relaxed and respectfull, if someone wanna do both even better…

It’s so disappointing to see that those two actions were very clearly deliberate. I am a member of other well-known cruising clubs, and I can honestly say I have not seen such behaviour elsewhere – and that if any sort of interference to a race happened, it would be genuinely accidental.
The attitude of non-cooperation re: scheduling the cruise is also something that is very sad to see and runs contrary really to how things should be. Even in SL, the sea is a huge place and there should be plenty of space for all.

Yes very true, but you cant argue or discuss Things with them. I tried that uncounted times. Either you follow their ideas or you better get lost… it Sounds hard but ist true
and yes ALL other cruises in sl mention races during their cruises and respect them… this is the only one that just doesnt want to do that… been here first so i have the older Rights… thats the answer
