Aging infrastructure, no money for maintenance, and a serious lack of private sector competition. All the signs are pointing towards “failed state” status for South Africa. And it’s all a man-made crisis (corruption, embezzlement and theft), not systemic (naïve trust in the market forces) like in the USA. 😮

Friggin’ shame. Well, in a couple days we’re jet-setting over to also troubled Germany, but there we’ll have at least permanent electricity supply. And after our return to sunny Africa: Solar panels and hello off-grid living!
