Yesterday Izi, Ella and Lucy joined me on our Windsurfing course 5 with wind from North East and 21 knots with sunny weather conditions for all. Today i used a couple of songs from the brand new album of the Scorpions. I hope you enjoy that as i do and yes they are as good as they were on their last album and still alive.

Izi and Ella started parallel shortly before me. Only Lucy got slowed down a bit by the start line buoy when she tried some butt bumps with it.
The first video shows the speed leg to buoy CN, the upwind leg to buoy ON, the downwind leg to buoy CS, the speedleg around Degrand Island via buoy OW. Izi, Ella and i tried different angles and timing strategies for the lines, tacks and gybes, but stayed all the way nearly as close together as we started.
The triel continued in the second video in the same way as it ended in the first video. Izi a little in the front chased by Ella and me. Only Lucy fell back slowly more and more, meter by meter. At buoy IN i could catch up with Ella and during the following leg to buoy CS Ella and i sailed side by side at 15 knots. At buoy CS i could pass Ella and now i was the first chaser of Izi.
The long downwind leg from buoy ON to CN i tried hard to catch up with Izi, but she defended her lead brilliant. Ella tried the same with me and i could defend my few meters to her as well. In the end we 3 finished about as close as we started, just in a little different order:
- Izi
me - Ella
- Lucy

Congrats to Izi for her win and a big thank to Lucy for not giving up while sailing mostly a bit lonely at the end .
Even with a small fleet you can have exciting fun when you have several sailors on nearly the same level and they start nearly parallel. Izi brought it to the point after the race: “my heart was beating like a hammer most of the race”

Ooooh, I’d really like to see some photos of hot racing action, so I can make header shots for the blog from them. Surfer, Bandit 22, everything you sail. Anybody?

Yesterday was one of my slower day racing in SL. My video shows how I kissed the green buoy in the start, and from then on things didn’t improve until I lost everyone from view 🙂

yes that was bad luck with the start line buoy. Well i really love my big screen, but on mine it looks compared to your videos all as if i sail in slow motion…lol…
