Windsurfing Race Day 4 with Sea Boss Rider at Saint Aubrey in 2022

Amy, Lucy, Izi, Ella and Sanja joined me yesterday on our Windsurfing course 5 with wind from North West and 21knots. The conditions were pretty calm and yesterday all finished. Only Amy did not use the AVsit kit on her windsurfing board and had to deal with frozen animations.
Sorry i couldnt do many pictures yesterday, because of all the duels on the course nearly the whole time.

from left: Amy, me, Lucy, Izi, Ella and Sanja

Amy started in the middle of the line first and Sanja, Izi and Ella started nearly parallel more to the northern buoy. I followed in a good picture position and had Lucy a bit behind me.

We reached nicely lined up at buoy CN after the first upwind and started the two highspeed legs to buoy CS via buoy ON. During these two legs we saw 3 cloese and exciting duels. In front Sanja and Izi fighting for the lead, in the middle Ella and i and behind us Amy and Lucy.
Sanja and Izi started after buoy CS the long upwind to buoy OW first. I could pass Ella before buoy CS and followed the two leaders. Amy and Lucy caught up slowly with Ella.

The long upwind to buoy OW between the private sims and around Degrand island needs 4 tacks with North West Wind. We all chose a different strategy for the timing… earlier or later. That let us meet several times on the track and we crossed the line of the others all several times very close. Izi had a little bad luck, because one buoy on her way didnt rez for her in time when she tried to pass it and as if Murphy was sitting on that buoy and laughing at Izi she hit the buoy right in the middle and got stopped to zero. Because of this i could pass her during the upwind leg.

The 3 duels we had after the highspeed legs changed into 2 triels during the upwind leg. Lucy and Amy caught up with Ella and the three sailed on the second half of the race very close together. Ella led the group and Amy managed to pass Lucy in the last third.

In the front i tried to catch up with Sanja, but she defended bravely her lead and i myself tried to keep Izi behind me and tried to get out of her hot breathing stream a bit. I couldnt sail away, but i could keep her behind me. About 1 sim before the last buoy Izi caught up with me and we sailed side by side around the last buoy. She messed a bit with the sail setting and i could win the few meters i needed to finish in front of her.

The Finish: 1. Sanja (sorry Sanja i had no free hand for your finish picture with Izi in my neck)
2. Izi (sorry Izi you were too close behind me for your finish picture)

The Finish: 3. Ella
The Finish: 4. Amy
The Finish: 5. Lucy

Our new course 5 is about 30min long, but these girls are already windsurfing all on nearly the same high level and so we all finished pretty close one after another. Congrats for that and of course congrats to Sanja for her win.

Hugs and kisses

    • Lucy, i didnt really see big mistakes. Maybe a little late with sail adjustings, but i am sure a lot of the men we had already trying to race you girls here would pay a lot to sail the windsurfer like you yesterday.
And as Ella said after the race yesterday. She sailed actually pretty well… just not as fast as Sanja!

And i am grateful i could see more of you, Amy and Ella while i had my eyes mainly on Izi and Sanja the whole race.

P.S. and as i mentioned in the briefing. “Our butts are sometimes bigger than they look” or if you like better “the buoys are sometimes bigger than they look” and that isnt only valid for the start buoy.
