It was rolling restart day on Main Channel yesterday again and it took 6 hours to get about half of the SL Sims back online. In our race area only Degrand was missing to sail the race and i had already prepared an alternative route. But then Degrand and all other sims came back online and we could sail B22 course 1 with wind North West and 21knots.
Lucy, Rugger, Moon, Liev, Nicci, Ester (with crew Yola), Erin, Jack (with crew Dora), Izi, Lisa, Ella and Erica came for another exciting race.
The weather conditions were fine. Only Erin’s boat broke sometime between buoy OE and CN and even a resit couldnt reset it and she sadly had to retire. I guess Moon got pulled off his boat in the second half of the race and fell back to the last position and Izi got turned around on a bad crossing by 180°.

The Start saw mainly 3 groups. First were Izi and Ella who had a bad timing at the line and were over early. Then we had Lisa, Rugger and Nicci who started nearly perfect followed by the next group Erica, Lucy, Moon, Liev, Erin and Jack all around 10sec. Izi and Ella followed the fleet after their restart and poor Ester had lag at the prestart, lost control of her boat and the boat missed the line. So she had to go back as well and started at the end of the fleet.
The first leg to buoy CS is an upwind leg and Lisa took the advantage out of the best start and sailed already away a bit from the fleet. You could watch the different skills of the sailors to sail fast and close or less close to the wind and could see the fleet spread out a bit. At buoy CS all came together again, but already with some position changes.

On the following downwind leg Lisa, Rugger and Jack (the 3 italian Musketiers) established their first 3 positions.

After Izi got turned around and had to turn back she lost 4 positions again and Moon passed Erin, Erica, Nicci and Izi.

On the upwind leg to buoy CN it looked as if Erin forgot the jib and was really slow. She lost several positions and then told me that her boat must be broken. She tried then to reset the boat with a resit, but it didnt help and so she retired sadly from the race. Trying to help Erin i stayed with her and missed the fleet turning around buoy ON.

On the way to buoy OW i saw a message of Moon’s boat and it looked like he got pulled off it or got disconnected for a while. I tried to find his boat and to help him with its postion, but i couldnt find it. A little later i saw him back in the race at buoy OW in last position.
In the meanwhile all made the upwind leg with the different tack strategies and i caught all again at buoy OW. Izi must have done a brilliant job there and passed Liev and Lucy and in her wake Lucy and Ella could pass Liev as well.

After buoy OW a couple of exciting duels wrote the story of the fast legs to the finish via buoy IN, IS, CN, and CS. Rugger and Jack, Ella and Lucy, Ester and Erica and in all 3 duels we saw a position change on the fast spin legs. Jack passed Rugger, Ella passed Lucy and Ester passed Erica. It was really exciting to watch these duels.
Moon could catch up a lot with Erica in the end, but she could defend her little lead.

Congrats to Lisa for her start-finish-win and to Izi, Ella and Ester for their come backs after their late starts and again thank you for all exciting duels i could watch during the race.

Later Spin came along and gave us already a bit drunken girls Lisa, Ella, Nicci and me a gondola ride around the Bar.
