We did yesterday again B22 course 1 with wind from South East and 21knots this time and Izi, Lisa, Rugger, Lucy, Ella, Aymalie, Ester (with crew Yola), Jack, Nicci, Liev, Erica and Moon came to join the race.
The rolling restarts some hours before made the crossings pretty smooth. The 12 boats caused at the start and around the first buoy CS pretty much lag and lots of boats were flying. I had at the start and around Degrand island when we met some of the cruisers again some lag with flying over sim boarders. The cruisers in combination with our 12 racers caused quite a lot of lag in that area for some sailors.
I shouted a lot of times that we have a race going on, but one woman in her Amnesia (yes the name to forget) crossed Lisa’s line and blocked her. But fortunately she could defend the little lead she had left after that accident against Aymalie into the finish.
Poor Rugger crashed as the only one yesterday somewhere around Degrand island.
9 boats started yesterday within 4 sec and all without any barging. Shame i can do only 7sec videos with my internet connection. It looked awesome to see them all crossing the line nearly parallel with Jack in the middle of the fleet and his rocket start again. Only Rugger, Liev and Izi started a bit later.
On the first leg to buoy CS i watched two main things. Lisa did’nt let Jack sail away after his rocket start and followed him in his neck. At the first buoy CS she passed him on the inside with her already well known awesome fast turns and took the lead on the upwind leg to buoy OE.
The rest of the fleet spread out and sailed nearly parallel to buoy CS. And you could see how they tried to wind shadow others or to escape the wind shadow of others.
Behind Jack and Lisa all was compressed at buoy CS and they all tried to give enough room. Some put down the spin a bit late and went wide. I saw a lot boats flying, some higher some lower and i wasnt able to decide if some actions were a foul or if it was just lag and no control. So i didnt give any penalties and messaged that to all in our conference chat.
After buoy CS on the upwind leg to buoy OE all calmed down again and they all tried to find their place behind Lisa.
The following downwind leg and to buoy CN and the reach leg to buoy ON let fall Jack a bit back behind Rugger and Izi and Ella could pass Liev
The following leg to buoy OW around Degrand island let us run into the Topless cruise again. There was one windsurfer who watched the fleet and let it pass fairly. But we had an Amnesia as well that seemed to wait and let the fleet pass. But i guess she didnt realized that the fleet came back after their circle around Degrand island an started too early again. Until there Aymalie didnt let Lisa sail away too far and stayed in popcorn position.
I tried to shout to the cruisers that we have a race going on so i missed a couple of position changes and Rugger’s crash.
But i saw Aymalie sailing on the upwind leg from buoy IN to buoy CN more north than Lisa. That was her luck, because she missed the Amnesia and Lisa met her. Lisa got blocked by the Amnesia, but could save a little lead against Aymalie. So lets say Lisa was unlucky in cards, but lucky in love and hope the Amnesia sailor will wait next time a little longer until the whole fleet will have passed.
We cant expect that the cruise director Cryptic will tell her cruisers that there will be a race going and that they please should let the racers pass. She never did that and i bet my house she wont start with it in the future
During these little chaotic situatuions i missed the great chase of Izi through nearly the whole fleet to position 3 and i missed the little comeback of Jack.
After that i flew to buoy CS and saw suddenly Moon in front of Lisa and a little later Moon messaged us he must have missed a buoy. Very fair action of him. He sailed back and let himself fall back to the last position and so i wont give him a DSQ.
Jack and Liev passed Nicci and Lucy on the last 2 legs into the finish
Congrats to Lisa for her win and to all others who sailed very fair in this little but very exciting race with lots of duels and position changes.
