01.01.22 and I’m curiously switching on my New lappytoppy UltraOrc and …

โฆ a few seconds later I get notified about impending system updates waiting for me to install them. ๐ And not only normal Pacman updates but AUR, too! ๐ฎ Guys, I know you love your computers and more than that, Linux, and even more you love ArchLinux โฆ but on the first day of the year, when you’re supposed to lay in bed, unconscious, in puddles of your own vomit, and totally hungover, sending out computer updates? I doubt there weren’t even any people on the receiving end. Well, apart from Orca. ๐ But Orca ain’t real, she’s the one of 7 billion earthlings without a single drop of alcohol in her body. No, there are more, hardcore yogis, fanatical religious Americans, muslims, teatotallers, buddhists โฆ but they aren’t famous for using ArchLinux. So thank you very much for doing all the work just for a single girl at the proverbial ass end of the world, so she can update shit she normally never uses?

I hope you at least had fun. Or whatever the analogy of fun is for geeks. Me, I’m just feeling pampered and well-cared for by the caring ArchLinux devs and retainers. =^.^=
You won’t get that level of service from Microsoft and Apple!
๐ I was happy to see that there were updates for Arch Linux for January 1st, 2022 (I would have been very concerned if there were not any).

Teehee. It’s a bit awkward but you’re right. It’s said about Arch users when we don’t get updates after more than 5 hours, we become very nervous and agitated, right? So of course the devs took care of our special condition. ๐
That’s why I wrote that I always feel in good hands as an Arch user.
And that’s also why I love to be in both worlds, the bleeding edge of EOS but also Manjaro’s more relaxed update path. Day is already half over … and still nothing blinking and beeping on my Manjo screen. ๐
And I’m not the least little bit concerned about anything. ^.^

I’m formatting a mint laptop for arch in the next couple of days. Network security interests me so it may be Black arch.

Ooooh Black Arch!
That some geeky shit for paranoid power users and/or hackers. And it comes with the most uncomfy desktops. Quite a jump from the super nice family friendly Mint, isn’t it?
I don’t even know what Network security means. ๐ฎ

Lots of laptops, so one doing something different will make a nice change. I’m definitely paranoid
