Izi, Sanja, Ella, Amy and Lucy joined me yesterday on our reversed courses 4 and 3 with wind from South West and 25 knots.
The conditions were actually ok for most. Only i got pulled off the board in first race once, but could get back on it and Lucy must have had some issues. Her lap time in first race was surprisingly slow and she seemed to crash in second race.
The situation in Brazil is very explosive at the moment and so Lucy came just after we had started the first race. Thats why you don’t find her on the following picture.

Izi and me started best, followed by Ella, Amy and Sanja a bit later. Lucy started directly out of the marina with 2min delay.
Izi and me sailed side by side while Ella caught up with us quite quick and i was already looking forward to an exciting duel with them. But then the second or third sim crossing pulled me off the board and when i was back on it and had the sail back up again Izi, Ella, Sanja and Amy were already nearly one sim ahead of me.
At the first buoy Ella made a perfect turn and passed Izi. She gained a little lead and defended that successful until the finish line.

In the beginning of this year i could maybe have caught up with the 4 in front, but not anymore. They all improved so much over the last months that i could only keep my popcorn position to watch them.

On the long upwind leg to buoy IS Sanja could pass Izi and started to chase Ella. Elle defended her lead successful and Amy tride hard to catch up with Izi but couldn’t get her.
I saw Lucy’s dot the whole race behind me and wondered why she didn’t catch up more with me.
The Finish: 1. Ella, 2. Sanja, 3. Izi, 4: Amy, me, 5. Lucy
Because of the 4 others finished before me i got only the picture of Lucy’s finish.

The start of reversed course 3 is a bit tricky. Right after the start we need to tack to the North and to buoy ON. So you need a good start, a good tack and then a good line and speed at the limit of hiking to win the first leg.
Izi had the best start. I could pass her with a better turn. Sanja, Ella, Izi and Amy (right of me outside the picture) had the best speed on that leg and so they all 4 passed me before buoy ON. Dont ask me why i didnt find the right settings to keep up with them

Izi and Sanja already a bit ahead on the upwind leg to buoy CN sailing side by side. I could pass Amy shortly after buoy ON with a better tack to the South and started chasing Ella.

I could pass Ella somewhere around buoy CN and defended my lead on her until the finish.
The leg between buoy CN and buoy OW is another tricky leg. When you sail it classically you do that just about awa 10Β° below the option to hike. So we all used the chance to hike sometimes and then sail classically again a bit.
If you find the right timing with that you are very fast and win that leg or you get passed by the others.
Izi found the best compromise on this leg and passed Sanja a bit before buoy OW. I couldn’t really catch up with them, but could keep Ella and Sanja behind me.
On the following zig zag course with downwind, reach and upwind legs to buoy CN Izi extended her lead and i could catch up a bit with Sanja.
Sometimes during the race Lucy must have crashed and sorry i can’t really say when it was.

All defended her positions on the final leg and finished in the following order:
1. Izi, 2. Sanja, me

Congrats to Ella for her win in the first race and to Izi for her win in the second race and a big thank you to Lucy trying all to come and join the races besides all the trouble she must have had in RL.

Never say “only” in combination with your videos Lucy.
Your videos are always an awesome addition here and people can either watch the exciting duels or can have a look at the settings and course you sail. They are great teaching videos for all who are interested in learning the Sea Boss Rider.
Million thanks for these. kisses

That was nice to look at and also exciting.
You girls remember when that Australian TV outfit made videos of SYC’s Saturday (or was it Sunday?) races ~2008/9? They never followed any sailor so closely but showed all the action in totale from far away. Those wannabe professionals could’ve learned so much from you, Lucy.

Noe couldn’t do videos yesterday.
But when she can then we have the Overview Videos, sometimes close ups and Lucy’s onboard video…
i think we are pretty good so far
