Sorry for so many Linux stories in this originally Second Life-centered blog. But as it so happens Christopher Barnatt just today started a new video series for people wanting to switch from Windows to Linux. And the good Christopher is one of the bestest educators on YouTube, so you’re in good hands with him.
Look!
What is a Linux distro? Which distro should you choose? And how do drives and partitions work in Linux? This video explains, with a focus on users migrating from Windows to Linux.
The “Linux Terminal Introduction” video that I mention in this episode is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkB-e…
And some of the ExplainingComputers videos that detail different Linux distros, including their installation, are as follows:
Linux Mint: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_ZAH…
Zorin OS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTMBF…
Ubuntu: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBCE-…
Ubuntu Studio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hXBR…
Pop!_OS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mie3v…
Manjaro & PCLinuxOS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcmkw…
openSUSE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yf3b6…
Did you notice that Mr. Barnatt also recommends Linux Mint for your first steps in this new world? And even though he knows his way around various Linux distros he uses Mint as his daily rider. Yes, it’s really that good.
And, worked up an appetite? You know … yes, you know, with the unfriendly takeover by Win11 and Microsoft showing what @$$holios they truly are, it’s times like these to grab the bull by its horns and go from “I should …” directly to “I do!” Never was there a more suitable time, never a better day than today to do the switch!

[…] whole month has passed since the first installment of Christopher Barnatt’s Linux Survival Guide. Today he gets into making your freshly installed Minty goodness, like, really […]
