Race Day 38 with Bandit 22LTE at Saint Aubrey

Lisa, Ella, Amy (with crew Ester), Erin, Lucy, Nicci, Erica, Jessi, Hart and Rugger came yesterday to our course 2 with wind from South West and 21knots. Izi helped me watching the racers and well we two were the only one who got disconnected. The sailors all finished and with mainly very smooth conditions. And fortunately Noe, who filmed out of her helicopter stayed online the whole time as well.

the fleet at the briefing

Rugger was a bit early at the start and had to slow down not to cross too early. Nicci, Erin, Ella, Amy and even Lisa took the chance to get a bit later to the line, but with a lot more speed and passed Rugger before the line and sailed away from him. Erica, Lucy and Jessi followed a bit later. Only Hart was still a bit struggling at the start and followed the fleet a lot later.

the start

They all tried to find the best place in the herd on the first downwind leg to Oprince race line

Nicci took the advantage out of the best start and reached Oprince race line first but very close followed by Ella
Behind them Lisa, Erin, Amy and Rugger were trying to wind shadow each others and to change positions.

After Oprince Lisa passed Nicci with a better line to buoy CN and started an exciting upwind duel with Ella and could pass Ella in the end of that.

shortly after Oprince race line

Besides the duell for the lead between Lisa and Ella two more groups found together: Lucy, Jessi and Erica a bit more North and Nicci, Erin, Amy and Rugger a bit more South and started inside these groups exciting duels.

at buoy CN: 1. Lisa, 2. Ella, 3. Nicci, 4. Erin, 5. Amy, 6. Rugger, 7. Jessi, 8. Lucy 9. Erica and a bit later 10. Hart

On the following downwind leg to buoy OE Erica could pass Lucy and Erin caught up a lot with Nicci.

Because of that our race line is unidirectional with this course 2 i could allow all to cross the line, which can be a fast option on this course 2 with the wind South West… And all used this option.
Lisa sailed a bit away from Ella. But Ella stayed the whole race in chasing distance to Lisa and didn’t allow her for the rest of a race one little mistake. She was always prepared to catch up with Lisa.
Rugger had the 3 (4) beautiful women Erin, Nicci and Amy (and her crew Ester) in front of him and i bet he was highly motivated to catch up with them to see more of their Beauty.
In the meantime Lucy passed Erica again and Jessi fell back a bit after a mistake at buoy OE.

The following downwind leg to buoy ON showed the different lines of the sailors. Lisa stable in the lead, Erin could sail away from Nicci and Amy and could catch up more with Ella. Rugger and Amy caught up with Nicci and she became the “meat part” in that “sailor burger” at buoy ON chased already closely by Lucy who i bet wanted a bite as well.

On the very long upwind leg to nearly buoy IN Lisa kept her lead safely and Ella tried to keep Erin safely behind her as well.
Rugger started to catch up with Amy and Lucy with Nicci. A bit behind Erica and Jessi had their private little duel.

Now my important moment in this race came. I got disconnected and had to find the fleet back. I was quite fast with that and found them again after they just had passed buoy IS and aimed Degrand Island.

At Degrand: 1. Lisa
At Degrand: 2. Ella
At Degrand: 3. Erin
At Degrand: 4. Amy and 5. Rugger
At Degrand: 6. Lucy and 7. Nicci
At Degrand: 8. Erica
At Degrand: 9. Jessi

Around buoy OW Amy and Rugger caught up very close with Erin and started to pass her on the way to buoy CS.

I found Hart far behind the fleet, but still bravely sailing her best on the course.

10. Hart

While i watched the exciting triel of Erin, Amy and Rugger Lisa finished first and won this race.
Congrats Lisa.
I understated her speed on the last downwind and missed her finish picture only by a couple of seconds and could catch only Ella on second place.

Finish: 2. Ella

On the final leg between buoy CS and the finish line Amy, Rugger and Erin had an exciting triel with full speed and spin and Erin passed Rugger just less than 100mm before the finish line by wind shadowing him classically.

Finish: 3. Amy, 4. Erin, 5. Rugger
Finish: 6. Lucy, 7. Nicci
Finish: 8. Erica
Finish: 9. Jessi

Finish: 10. Hart

Well… doing a summary of this race isn’t really possible. The only thing i can say is “WOW, what a race!!!”

the after race party at our Tiki Bar

Congrats to Lisa for her win and all others for awesome sailing and racing. Any million thanks for the help of Noe and her videos and Izi and her additional eyse.

    • 1. This video completed our report. Pictures, Helicopter and boat camera: What else do we need? Awesome Lucy
      2. I love the special look you give your boat and SL when you stand suddenly on the seaground and i love how fast you came back.

  1. Great race! Lucy, so lovely video work: you keep amazing me ;). Too bad about your falls but very nice recovery both times. What I saw was that about 10 people were in the region ahead of you when you fell the first time: from our past experience with the tiny people in the Blake Sea, and also racing at NorthSea, that is the threshold when simcross becomes really random as the Homestead sims start to really struggle with transferring the load… Had you rounded the previous mark closer, you may have avoided the 1st dip by staying ahead of Ruggero 😀
Anyway, lovely race again! Well done y’all!
