The conditions yesterday were nice to us and let all finish in both races. Sanja, Izi, Lucy, Ella, Ester and Amy joined me yesterday on our new courses 4 and 3 with wind from South West and 25knots. At the watching tower were NOE, who made the long videos and Ezio.
We have a new member in our race group. It is our “Line Ghost”, who stands where the register zone of our race line ends.
Izi, Sanja, Ella and me started in first race nearly parallel in the front. Amy and Ester followed some time later and Lucy very much later. Either Lucy had some issues with lag or isn’t used yet to the very different upwind start on our new courses.
I chose a more southern route on the second leg to buoy IS and could hike the last third. With this i could pass Izi and Ella with a better turn around buoy IS and could catch up with Sanja more and more on the third leg to buoy CN. My turn around buoy CN was a lot closer than Sanjas and i could pass her and had them all in my neck.
Right in the moment i needed to tack to buoy CS this photo was uploaded and blocked my keyboard for sl commands. I was quicker this time to realize that and changed to the active firestorm window again, but i was still some seconds too late with my tack and Sanja could pass me again. On the leg to buoy IS i chose again the more southern route while all others chose the more direct way. But i caught up with them at the buoy IS and with a nearly perfect turn around buoy IS i passed them all and could sail away a little bit.
I had a great top speed and was already smiling to reach the finish line first, but then on a crossing i got turned around, my board HUD stopped working and i had no information about my sail status and awa anymore and tried to adjust my sails only by looking at the speed. So i didn’t look very much on the water and found one of the mean seagulls. I jumped over it but lost about 3knots of speed.
Izi came closer and closer and passed me only some meters before the finish line and won. Ella and Sanja came a lot closer as well but i could manage at least to keep them behind me. Amy, Ester and Lucy followed us with the whole race in the same order they had after the start.
Congrats Izi for that awesome finish.
The start of the second race caused a lot closer fleet. We all started within 12sec this time. And again the others chose the direct route to buoy CN, while i went a bit more south again
Because of my better angle to buoy CN, i could start hiking earlier and nearly the whole way to buoy CN. On that ways i passed nearly all. Izi was fair and gave me enough room at buoy CN and i could pass her on the inside there with my higher speed.
Now i could start my hunt on Sanja who was still in front of me.
On the long speeding leg from buoy OW to buoy CN it looked as if i could catch up a bit more with Sanja and only Ella was close behind me, but on that leg Izi and Lucy caught up with Ella again. Amy and Ester followed the fleet again with some distance.
On the following downwind leg to buoy ON i could really catch up a bit more with Sanja and my turn around buoy ON was a lot closer. I caught up with her meter by meter on the way to the finish line. Izi and Lucy could pass Ella on the downwind leg to buoy ON and chased me.
Sanja turned a bit earlier to the finish line and just passed my front before i could turn. 50m longer race and i think i could have passed her.
Congrats Sanja for that awesome finish.
The new courses 4 and 3 seem to be very good as well for exciting duels as we could see again yesterday.
We went all to the Tiki Bar after the races and had exciting chats about the races, congratulated the winners, had cold drinks to cool down and some pizza snacks to give the body some energy back.
