Is it Xmas Already?

No, of course not. But for us it kinda feels like. We’re not big into online shopping, you know, rather supporting the local retailers. But since takealot’s Cape Town warehouse is only 5 minutes away, and I’m even going there sometimes to fetch our orders rather than having them delivered, we’re still supporting the local workforce, right? But this time we wanted our order to be delivered. Well, the drivers are local yokels as well, so we’re good people. Not decadent at all, right?

Although I really felt like the most naughty girl ever when I grabbed those boxes from the courier earlier this morn. ๐Ÿ˜

So, let’s see what we have here: Panasonic cordless landline phone, since we’re oldfashioned af and our old phone is slowly giving up the ghost. Washable hairclipper for hubby who needs a shave every fortnight (and I’m using that thing too, sometimes) and the blades went blunt lately and hubby was crying ouchy. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ You know how boys are. :/ And we splurged for an electric cordless doorbell coz we’re fancy assholes like that. No more shouting across the garden wall anymore. Just press the button. ๐Ÿ™‚

Our new pride and joy. ๐Ÿ™‚

Still, what a fukn waste. Did they really deem it necessary to put 3 little boxes into 3 little bit larger ones? WTF? All 3 of our items would’ve fitted into the medium sized box. This is shameful. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ People, what are you doing? Don’t you like to live on this planet anymore?

Aaand, just fyi, we’re not wasteful, didn’t kick the old phone and clipper into the garbage bin. Our cleaner lady just left the house, happy with her new old toys.

  1. I’m hoping to invest in some reusable bags so to stop ending up with what seems like a thousand plastic bags as the folks where I buy groceries seem intent on putting one item per bag. Or if they dare put two then they must double bag.

    • Fortunately here in SA some of the more clever stores have switched to paperbags now. The oldstyle stores I can fortunately mostly ignore. And if I happen top shop there I always bring my own reusable bags. That’s the fashion anyway, since at least 10-15 years: buy a fabric bag and be happy ever after. You get them at every supermarket cashier.
