The sims behaved yesterday pretty well. Only real issues came from hitting a cross or capsizing in too exciting duels.
Izi, Sanja, Lucy, Ella, Amy, Ester and Justin joined me yesterday on our reversed courses 1 and 2 again with wind from north and 25knots.
Hakiria is on a little vacation and so i tried my best to do some pictures while racing with all these speed junkies. Its pretty tricky when you hike out with the windsurfer at the limit and wanna get a nice picture without testing the water temperature.
Sanja had the best start, Justin, Lucy, Izi and Ester followed in a row with 2sec after the one in front of them. Only Ella, Amy and me followed just a bit later and in the end all 8 started within 16sec.
In the first lap Sanja, Izi, Lucy and Ella had an exciting duel and sailed nearly side by side. Amy, Justin and I followed in the second fighting group. Only Ester had some bad luck when she hit a cross and fell back.
I couldn’t take pictures on the high speed legs in lap 1 and 2. When you hike out right 1-2° above the capsizing limit you cant take your hands from the keyboard without capsizing.
You see Sanja (1.), Izi (2.) and Lucy (3.) in the front and finishing in that order. I could pass Ella on the beginning of the last leg and then took the picture and Ella took her chance to pass me again with the higher and more constant speed and finished 4. I could still keep Amy behind me who finished 5.
Justin (6.) in his first races with us and poor Ester (7.) finished a lot later.
Sanja had the best start again in race 2. But this time we all followed her much closer and the first 7 started within 10sec. Only Justin followed us with a safe distance.
I could catch up with Sanja at the first buoy OE and pass her on the following upwind leg to buoy ON and could manage to stay in front on the downwind leg as well.
It was easier to watch the fleet in front of me in the first race. In the second race i could only watch the dots the whole time close together behind me, but i am unable to say who was which dot. Sanja caught up with me after the turn around buoy OE and we sailed about 2/3 of the long high speed leg to buoy IS side by side. Then she decided to change to my windward side, but hitted my board a bit, slowed down too much and capsized.
Izi could pass her there and caught up with me on the last 2 legs, but i could manage to stay in front. Sorry but these exciting close duels for the lead didn’t give me time to make more pictures.
Behind us Lucy, Ella and Amy had a very close and exciting duel and sailed nearly the whole time only separated by a couple of seconds.
Izi (1.) finished too close behind me and i couldn’t to catch her in her finish picture.
Congrats to Sanja and Izi for winning one race each, to all others for exciting duels and Justin for doing pretty well on his first time between all these hot speed junkies.
We went again to the Tiki Bar after the race, enjoyed the drinks and had interesting chats about the race and the world in general.
