Arrrrgs! 😦 They put everything into this movie. It would’ve been better had they left the kitchen sink off. 😐
The world is stunned when a group of time travelers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future, mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Chris Pratt). Determined to save the world for his young daughter, Dan teams up with a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons) in a desperate quest to rewrite the fate of the planet.
This again is one of those movie that had it all but turned out as a turd. Chris Pratt, J.K. Simmons, talented cast, I assume a handsome budget … and a nice but completely crappy realized premise. Without wanting to spoil too much, aren’t we having more than enough actual active militaries on the planet right now? So why sent a buncha old untrained folks onto a future battlefield to fight a far superior invading alien force?
Apart from the nonsense premise they made almost everything wrong one could do wrong. The story had the wrong focus, the movie was too long … and contradicting itself! 😮
Oh man, this is too complicated to explain now but it doesn’t matter. This flick is too long and not really enetertaining. This isn’t the lovable Chris Pratt, the goof from Parks and Recs or Marvel’s Starlord. This is a man out of place and out of time. And so felt I when I watched this trainwreck. 😦
I really hate to say it but this film was stupid. Just plain out stupid. Like written by a 6 y/o. Stuff happens for no other reason than the writer wanted it to happen. Let these guys tell you all about it.
I’ve heard the action scenes towards the end were great, stupid but great. I can’t say since I was vast asleep at the time they got there. 😐
