Sorry for being a bit late with this report, but my motherboard died on Wednesday evening, the nice repair guy gave me a used and slower one for Thursday while the ordered new parts were on their way and i could at least host this race. The PC was too slow to race myself and so i just watched it. On Friday and Saturday my PC was fixed and i thought it would work like before…just faster. But well my SAM Broadcaster didnt work anymore and i had to switch to Mixxx, which means learning all tricks new and loosing all my playlists from about 5-6 years djing… and some other little things. But now i am on a quite good way again and hope during the next week all will be perfect again.
But enough complaining about me… Lets talk about the races. Sanja, Lucy, Amy, Ester, Ella and Yumiko came for our new reversed courses 4 and 3 with wind from south west and 25 knots. Yumiko and Lucy crashed in first race and all finished in second race. So we can say summer day with little local showers.

The start was a bit slower than normal, but all started quite quick after the start to chase the one in front of them.
Sanja and Ella had the fastest lines to buoy IS and passed Lucy who had the best start. Yumiko, Amy and Ester chased them.
Sanja could sail away a bit more from Ella and defended her lead until the finish. Yumiko and Lucy crashed near buoy IS and i only saw their boards sailing on their own into Degrand.
Ester was caught lately a lot in rl and was busy with her work. So she couldnt practice on the new courses. She told us during the race that she was a bit lost. I could watch that because she did some wider turns and some unnecessary longer routes between the buoys.

First time on this course with this wind and all need to find their fastest routes. So no more position changes until the finish.
The start of race 2 is a little mean, because pretty quick after the start line you need to tack to the north to get the right direction for buoy ON. As you can see Sanja practiced this start a bit more than the others. She took very quick the lead in the race and stayed in front very confident. Behind her we got quite some exciting duels and some position changes on the zig zag course to buoy OW.

On the long high speed part to buoy OW Lucy could sail a bit away from Amy and Ester and Ella was catching up with them at buoy OW after passing Yumiko.

Around Degrand island and up to buoy IN Ella could pass Amy and Ester.
On the tricky leg back to buoy CS Ella overdid her chase a bit and tested the water temperature. Amy and Ester could pass her again and Yumiko caught up with her very close.
For the rest of the race to the finish all kept their positions.
Congrats to Sanja for her two wins and to all others for sailing bravely these new courses.
After the race we all went around the corner to our new after race Tiki bar.

New courses and new winds will need a couple of more races for all to get more used to it, but then i think they will be as exciting as the other high speed courses we already have.

“repair guy gave me a used and slower one”
You know, Bia, it’s not the MB but the CPU that determines the speed of your komputah!
Very cool race report, as usual. And very nice of Harakiri to not only supply us with videos to watch but also a bar to get drunk. Perfect.
I hope y’all tip her generously.

The slower MB with a slower processor was only for Thursday and the race. I didnt want to cancel it. Now i have an i7 11th generation and i am very pleased with it
And i have nearly all updated again and i am satisfied now again with my hardware.

Uh, ok, so it was a MB/CPU combo thingy? Anyhoo, i7 is Intel’s bestest (for normal people) and 11th gen is what’s recent right now. BUUUUUUUT … why didn’t you go with AMD Ryzen? They are better in all ways, performance and price. Intel is like they’ve given up without a fight. 😮
Your elders, Trap and Orca, are both happy campers on AMD. 🙂
