Race Day 23 with Bandit 22LTE at Saint Aubrey

It was a bright summer day. All 11 starters finished.
Lisa, Lucy, Ella, Erin, Nicci, Amy, Erika, Victor, Moon, Juicy, and Flapio came out for our reversed course and wind from South West and 21knots.

After two weeks of fast and very close downwind starts the first upwind start was a bit sleepy this time. Lisa and Victor won the start with under 10sec, the fleet spread out and Moon started at the end of the race with 41sec, but with the second best lap time he made it 3rd in the end. Well done Moon.

On the first leg Lisa took fast the lead and was chased by Victor and Flapio and then by 7 boats very close together. Erika after a longer break sailed at the end.
At the first buoy CS 6 boats arrived nearly parallel and all turned around and respected the room of the others. It was one of the fairest turns of so many fast fighting boats i have ever seen.

The second leg was a short downwind leg. All went fast and avoided the dangerous crosses. Lisa, Victor and Flapio were leading the race. Behind them were Lucy, Nicci, Moon (already 6th), Ella and Erin in a great duel. The turn around buoy CN with the change from spin to jib was a fair as the first one and all respected the room of the others again, but without forgetting they are in a race. Well done again

On the long upwind leg to buoy IS Lucy caught up with Flapio, Moon started to pass Nicci chased by Ella and Amy passed Juicy.

Victor second at buoy IS

Lucy turned around buoy IS before Flapio, who did the turn around buoy IS in the wrong way. For him it meant to go back and turn it right again, which let him fall back to nearly the end of the fleet. Nicci, Ella and Moon went around buoy IS parallel and started the next short and fast downwind leg. Erin, Amy and Juicy followed them.

Lisa first at buoy OW
followed by Victor

Nicci must have done a mistake between buoy IS and OW, because she fell back behind Erin and got nearly caught by Amy.

Lucy, Ella and Moon started the long fast leg to buoy ON. On this one Moon could pass Lucy and Ella, while Lucy followed Moon and sailed a little away from Ella.

Victor still 2nd at buoy ON, Moon already 3rd, Lucy 4th and Ella 5th
Erin, Nicci and Amy followed at buoy ON
then Flapio and Juicy arrived at buoy ON
Erika at the end of the fleet at buoy ON

On the following upwind to buoy CN Moon caught up very close with Victor and they started an exciting duel until the finish line chased by Lucy a little behind in a kind of “watching with popcorn” position

Juicy chasing Flapio at buoy CN
Amy chasing Erika at buoy CN

On the downwind leg to buoy OE Lisa still far in front. Moon seemed to have passed Victor and Lucy and Ella still chasing the two. At the end Erika and Amy still on their upwind leg to buoy CN crossed fair the fast fleet coming already back from buoy CN.

Victor managed to stay in front of Moon at buoy OE and started the last upwind leg to buoy CS close before Moon. Lucy followed the two in her “watching with popcorn” position

We saw a great start to finish win of Lisa again. Congrats for that.
We saw an awesome come back of Moon after the slowest start to 3rd place. Congrats for that.
We saw Victor in his first race with us on second place. Congrats for that.
And we saw uncounted exciting duels and position changes along the course of all. Congrats to all for that as well.

  1. Hello… another wonderful race by Bianca and St AR… Let me hilight what Bianca already wrote… we have seen some really great performance… Crowded turns with full reciprocal respect and smooth turning, exciting fair duels…. great race by Victor, second at his first race at St AR.. .and monster performance by Moon whose lap time shows that if he did not have a bad start probably there would have been a big duel for the first place too :))
Thank you Bianca.. and congratulations to all…
