Lucy, Ella, Izi, Sanja, Ester, Amy and Yumiko joined me yesterday on our new normal courses number 4 and 3 with wind from North East and 25knots.
If you wanna know the difference then i would explain it this way. Our courses 1 and 2 are like American oval speedways and our new courses 4 and 3 are more like modern Formula One racecourses.
The weather was nearly perfect yesterday and only Yumiko crashed in second race.
The new wind in combination with the new courses needs a different start routine. I gave out the new courses and winds we will use 2-3 weeks ago and as you can see they used their chances to practice it. Only Yumiko who did her first race with us yesterday was a bit behind, but i will be very sure it will be a lot better next time.
Izi, Sanja and Lucy started best, followed by Amy, me and Ella a little later and then Ester and Yumiko.
The new courses have some legs you sail the windsurfer at the limit of the hiking range and they have legs you can choose the “safe slow” direct line or the “longer but more risky” high speed line.
The risks of capsizing follows you on most legs and it caught some yesterday. I cant say who all capsized because the the dot just stops moving on mini map, but it does it as well on my mini map a with lag at crossings.
The fleet was mostly close together and i really cant say who tested the water temperature and who passed who. What i can say is that i made a pretty good turn at the second buoy IS and could pass there Amy, Sanja and Lucy. I tried hard to catch up with Izi, but she didn’t make a mistake and saved her lead until the finish line. All others finished as well and pretty close together. I can only say “Well done for the first time on this course”
And congrats to Izi for her win in first race.
This time Ester was a little late at the start. Izi was very close to a perfect start, but she realized early that it can be a little over early and i saw her trying hard to “brake” a bit, but in the end she was just a blink over early and had to restart. The rest were pretty close together and started our new longer course 4.
The second course #4 is more of a zig zag in the first half. I was in a nice duel with Lucy and Sanja and we three stayed close together until nearly buoy IN. Behind us the others did the same. Exciting close duels.
I think Sanja must have loved the water temperature yesterday very much. She tested it several time. First time close before buoy IN and Lucy and i could pass her. With a better line to buoy IS and a quite good turn there i could pass Lucy and saved this lead until the finish line.
On this course #3 you have the same options as on course #4, some legs are at the limit of hiking and some legs can be done safely or risky. Thats why we had some more water tests yesterday.
Duels and position changes were the result. But in the end we finished quite close together. Only poor Yumiko crashed somewhere on the course.
And congrats to Lucy for her win in second race.
I am very happy these Ladies sail in these races very fair and i can join them. But that means i cant take little videos or pictures at the hot spots to show more of the exciting race actions. So you just have to believe me we had really exciting fun yesterday.
And i am very glad they all enjoyed the new courses. They will make our races a lot more interesting over the second half of the year.
