Race Day 18 with Bandit 22LTE at Saint Aubrey

Lisa, Reni, Lucy, Amy (with crew Ester), Nicci, Ella, Erin, Emileigh (with crew Nicole), Moon, Vlad and Rugger came yesterday to race on our normal B22 course with wind from South East and 21knots.
Weather was mostly sunny with some local clouds and one local shower. Vlad retired after having lots of lag issues quite early in the race and Emileigh got disconnected after buoy ON, came back and finished the race last.
Rugger was less than 1sec over early. Adeli and me told him to restart in our conference chat, in public chat and via IM, but he continued and so i hag to disqualify him.

the fleet at the start

Lucy, Ella, Reni, Moon, Erin and Emileigh started within 3sec followed by Lisa, Nicci, Amy and Vlad and Rugger was over early (see clearly on the start picture)

the fleet spread out and started very close, Rugger crossed the line at a bit less than 1sec too early

The fleet stayed close together on the first downwind leg to buoy CS and with the turns there to first position changes happened.
The first couple of “battle groups” found together on the following upwind leg to buoy OE. Emileigh, Reni and Lisa for the lead, followed by the next group of Lucy, Moon and Amy and a third group with Nicci, Ella and Rugger.

the first 3 at buoy OE: Emileigh, Reni and Lisa

Lisa had the best turn around buoy OE of the 3 leaders and passed with that Reni and Emileigh.

Second group at buoy OE: Erin, Lucy, Amy and Moon
third group reaching buoy OE: Ella, Nicci and Rugger

Erin must have had some issues on the downwind leg to buoy CN and fell back behind Ella.

Lisa managed to sail away a little from Emileigh and Reni on the following reach leg to buoy ON. Erin did sailed a bit away from Moon, Moon passed Lucy and Amy caught up with Lucy, Nicci sailed a bit away from Ella and Rugger

The chasers of the leaders at buoy CN

Lisa, Emileigh and Reni stayed close together on the way to buoy ON and south again on the way to buoy OW. The second group with Moon, Lucy, Amy and Nicci got closer together and turned around buoy ON in a nice close line.

the 3 leaders a bit ahead of their chasers at buoy ON

Two sims later Emileigh got disconnected unfortunately. She came back and continued, but what a shame fell back to the end of the fleet after a great battle with Lisa and Reni for the lead.
On the following long spin leg to buoy OW Lisa switched on her turbo and sailed away from Reni, which gave her a safe lead she saved all the way to the finish line.

Lisa first at buoy OW

Moon did a great spin leg as well, sailed away from Lucy, Amy and Nicci and caught up with Reni at buoy OW

Reni second at buoy OW and chased by Moon
Lucy, Ami and Nicci now the chasers of the 3 leaders

Erin caught up with Ella again after issues.

Ella chased by Erin at buoy OW
Rugger followed at the end
Lisa first at buoy IN followed by her two chasers Reni and Moon
the second chaser group with Lucy, Amy and Nicci at buoy IN
the third chaser group with Ella, Erin and Rugger at buoy IN

Short before the next buoy IS is a crossing. Amy lagged extreme at that and while she had no control her boat ran into Lucy. But i could cleary see that she didnt steer her boat which went straight into Lucy.
I know this situation very good from starts at NYC. There is a crossing about 80m before the community boat. Most of my starts i see me sitting in my boat at the crossing, hear the start line beeps and see my starting time in public chat, but still looking at my boat standing still at the crossing. Mostly about 10-15sec later i see me suddenly back on my boat again in the middle of all others with my cam 50m behind me and on a course i wouldnt have done with control. When i saw Amy and her boat it reminded me of that and thats why i didnt gave her a penalty. She fell back with this behind Lucy and Nicci.
On the following upwind leg to buoy CN Reni could manage to stay in front of Moon, who was trying hard to catch up with her.

Reni and Moon at buoy IN
Lucy, Nicci, Amy and in the back Ella at buoy CN

On the last 2 legs Amy passed Nicci again.

Finish: 1. Lisa
2. Reni close follwed by 3. Moon
4. Lucy, 5. Amy
6. Nicci
7. Ella
8. Erin and Rugger close behind her, but DSQ (because of over early)

After Emileigh got disconnected and fell far back i didnt see her in the race. But she sailed bravely and finished the race while we all were at the marina and enjoyed already our after race. I was lucky to see her and catch her finish.

Emileigh finished 9th
our traditional after race beer at the marina with all sailors and spectators

Congrats to Lisa for her win, to all others for exciting duels along the course and sorry to Emileigh and her crew Nicole for their bad luck.

  1. The situation described by Bianca happened to me also in the crossing before the starting line.. for some “5/ 10? ) seconds i saw my boat frozen with time still going on then suddently i saw boat pratically crossing the line beind almost everybody, with me on it and my cam quite far . I had to make a a quick left/right turn to reset the 22 cam and gain control again. Fortunately in that time lapse i did not hit anybody but if so i woud not have had any way to avoid it.. I also wonder what other people around me saw about my boat or my avie in that time interval when i saw the boat frozen. Mistery of SL? Side effecs of “stop when errror get too large” option?. I dont know anywyay whatver it is we are without any control for some “interminable” seconds:)
Said that.. great race with many fun duels . Well Done Bianca

    • No Lisa,
the other option means that the viewer will use your latest sailing and try to let it go like that, but you wont have any control as well. You think that the boat sails normally, but you just see that the boat might ran into theothers and cant do anything…

      • Exactly. We have no control over the boat in such situations, it’s almost like you lost internet connection. Nothing left to do but wait … or log out. What happens in SL is that your boat will continue on the course you were sailing when you hit the xing … until it ends in someone’s bedroom. 😮
