Moscow hosts Victory Day parade on Red Square

76th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over the nazis:

Russian troops and military vehicles are marching across Moscow’s Red Square during Sunday’s annual V-Day parade. It is the biggest of dozens of processions taking place across Russia to celebrate the defeat of Nazi Germany.

    • My father, a semi-jewish bastard and forced worker at the time, his birthday is May 8. And he told me often that May 8 1945 was his bestest bday evaaar! 🙂 He could vividly remember when the word got round that Hamburg had just surrendered to the Brits, his overseer threw his MP and uniform jacket in the nearby canal and ran away. Thus ended the nazi regime for him: with a whimper and a wet splash. So my dad shrugged and went home as well. 🙂
