Linux Mint Automatic Updates?

Mornin’ Minties ๐Ÿ˜‰

Just because I’m not on Mint myself doesn’t mean I don’t care anymore or that I don’t hear the rumours n shit. Here’s Tom to clear up some of your fears about losing self-determination:

So, we ok now? Clem and gang won’t force you to do fukall! They are just letting you know when you’re running criminally behind with your updates. And I won’t have to tell you that regular updates are critical for the health and safety of your computer, no?

Now walk a mile in my flipflops and imagine receiving 2, 3, or 23 daily updates! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ You know Orca is a heavy case of OCD and installs every update coming in from upstream immediately, on the spot. Come on, it’s just a few seconds every time.

Let me tell you, hubby went back from Endeavour to Manjaro a couple weeks ago. He was tired of all the updates and went to a system that holds back updates for about 2 weeks and bundles them up, resulting in big fat huge update files and even breakages. Yesterday he was staring at the progress bar for what seemed like hours, with a face like a raincloud … and in the end the update broke and didn’t finish. I guess he’ll be back on true Arch soon. ๐Ÿ˜‰

So be happy you’re on a Ubu/Deb based distro where updates are rare. But when you get an update you really should take the time and install it. Mint will only send important shit down the stream.
