And what a season it was, right? Storywise and on a personal/personnel level. For me it was a rather mixed bag of emotions, with the whole crew of the Rocinante spread out all over our star system. Amos hanging out on shithole planet Earth for much too long, and Naomi doing dangerous Belter family business. Did she had to be the ex-wife of the most crazy fanatic terrorist? Really?
Of course they did! See, that’s clever screenplay writing since it gave Amos and Naomi the options to escape deadly fates in the literal last second.
Now to Alex Kamal (Cas Anvar): He was the only crew member not making it out alive. And he didn’t even die in a spectacular fireball but of a stroke. Just dropped dead, end of story. One scene he was happily radioing with Naomi I guess, next scene he’s seen strapped into his pilot’s seat, staring into the eternal emptiness. 😮 There were some unsubstantiated allegations made against Cas Anvar, for sexual misconduct … a concept Orca doesn’t fully grasp. Anyway, the cowardish production company wrote him out of the series.
Rest of the Roci crew together again, plus Clarissa Mao. I guess this gives James Holden some bellyache. 😉 Sounds like soap opera? Naaw, conflicts in The Expanse are dealt with, mostly in a swift and butal way.
Let’s say this last episode made me happy again. The Roci crew, minus Alex, plus Bull plus Clarissa is back together again, and thanks to a major cliffhanger they have their work cut out for them for the next season.
Ok, gonna watch this supposedly no-spoilers review now …
