Race Day 3 with Bandit 25R at Saint Aubrey

The weather conditions were actually pretty good yesterday and we sailed the normal B25 course with wind NW and 21knots.
Nicole was telling me about strange problems with disconnect crashes over the last two weeks already and so it was no wonder really that she got them twice at this race and couldnt finish. Yvonne and i hit a 4-way-cross, which is our own fault and we got pulled of the boat. You can always tp back on the boat and then continue, but with the B25R you will be seated in moor position with the cam from the side. Turning the cam around you are sometimes lucky that it stays in the back… just a bit low and you need to “feel” the buoys in front of you, because you cant really see them anymore. It is possible to continue sailing like that. But mostly you arent that lucky and need to resit. That happened to Lucy twice and without hitting a 4-way-cross.
I thought long about this last night and i decided with all the issues the Bandit 25R has in these times we will have a break for this race. The course in combination with this boat has still potential for an exciting race, but i cant invite people to have fun and in the end they become frustrated because of all the technical issues.
The skills of sailors should decide who wins and not SL.

Nicole, Lucy and Yvonne joining me at the B25R race

But back to our last B25R race for some time. Nice start of Yvonne, Lucy and me followed a little later by Nicole (already having connection issues).
We sailed all three pretty close together until buoy CN and Lucy fell back after her first resit. Yvonne as in my neck and i tried to do a video of her following me. But with my not too fast connection on the long upwind to buoy OW the taking of the video took control over my PC and i couldnt steer anymore. So my boat went into iron and Yvonne passed me. So i started to chase her.

A little later Yvonne hit a 4-way-cross and from then her sailing was much more difficult with the cam low at the back of the boat and i could pass her again. Even with the same issue a bit later i could manage my lead until the finish with Yvonne still in my neck. Sorry Yvonne but you were to close behind me to take a pic of your finish.

But i caught Lucy at her finish a little later.

Lucy finished

    Very brave decision. BRAVO!
Inviting people to an organised mass suicide will in the long run not cast a favourable light on the hostess. 😐
Let Ana sort the script out or stick to just the B22 which – as the successor – was planned to replace the B25 anyway.

Can the M24 still be sailed, or is it too old and her BWind scripts don’t work anymore? I always loved that boat.
