Race Day 2 with Bandit 25R at Saint Aubrey

The weather conditions were actually pretty ok yesterday and it could have been an exciting race. But since the first script errors hitted the boats in August the Bandit 25R got influenced more and more and is actually the most influenced boat i sail.
The script errors set the boat into moor position while still sailing and that means the cam looks from the side. You can only fix that when you moor, stand up, sit on the boat again, recover racewind, raise sails and speed up again, but that takes alltogether about 30sec.
Believe me that means not the sailor with the best skills win this race but the one with the fewest resits and this kills every exciting duell when one just has to stop and start again while the other can continue.
Moon had those issues first and left the race frustrated, next was Laured who got that on the second last leg and was no wonder frustrated as well. Dahlia racing with me this boat now for nearly 4 years finished her race but with several of these “resits” and Lucy couldnt believe to finish second with all the mistakes she did.
At the “after race beer” Dahlia told us the very sad news that she doesnt have fun anymore sailing against the time and us, but never really can win something or can see her improvements. I am so proud of her that she did it in nearly every race since these problems started to decide our race and can really understand her. Thank you very much Dahlia that you stayed so long with us in this race.

I am really thinking about stopping this race after about 4 years, because i dont want to have frustrated sailors after a race anymore and i think its my responsibility to do that when i dont have an idea how ti fix this problem. I want them smile after an exciting race.

Moon, Lucy, Laured, me and Dahlia waiting for the start

Well, when you see the video of the start and the first exciting seconds of the race you can imagine that i am very sad about the bad progress of this race and that it would hurt a lot to stop this exciting race after such a long time because of only technical issues caused by LL.

I cant tell more about some race actions. All is said further up. The rest is shown in Hakirias awesome videos.

  1. These script errors are in the boat’s sailing engine or Sim problems? If it’s the boat you could ask Ana for a rework of the Boss engine, or just accept that the 22 is already the new and sexy version of the 25 … and indeed stop the 25 races.
All SL boats have their time and then get replaced by newer, more exciting boats. Nobody sails Tako anymore, or my favourite boat ever, the Q24. The only boat that is still actively raced today, after many years in service, is the fukin Fizz.

    • i told Ana this and she said she will look what can be done, but well its a shame… for me it is really sad that i have to stop a 4 years series… and this was boat i organised my first race…

      • But come on, 4 years is quite a run! I guess no other boat, apart from the fucking Fizz, has ever managed to stay in the top hit charts for that long. Not even the genius Tako, the grandaddy of SL sailing, was in for such a long time. Invented in 2006 by 2009 nobody was even looking at it anymore.
It’s astonishing you get to assemble a sizable fleet week by week by week … 😉
