Race Day 3 with Bandit 22LTE at Saint Aubrey

The weather conditions were quite calm for most after our race area was restarted completely some hours before the start. Viv, Sea, Deacon, Nicole, Moon, Adeli, Lisa, Lucy, Cilian, Rugger, Balut and Jenna lined up for the race on our B22 course 1 with wind from South West and 21 knots.

Viv, Sea, Deacon, Nicole, Moon, Adeli, Lisa, Lucy, Cilian, Rugger, Balut and Jenna lined up for the start

Right after this picture and short before i wanted to give the last minute call Adeli crashed. We waited and started after she got back and ready for the race and i started to cross my toes for all the racers as well. Read a bit more further down about our unlucky crashers.
And then then the race started:

the start of the fleet (video by Hakiria)
Moon, Lisa and Nicole with best starts followed be the rest, one after another

Lisa could pass Moon on the first 250m after the start with brilliant upwind sailing and windshadowing him and won the first leg to buoy CS.

Lisa leading the fleet at buoy CS

The rest of the racers tried slowly to find their position in the line.

Nicci, Adel, Lucy, Sea, Jenna and Balut at buoy OE
Nicole, Nicci, Adeli and Lucy on the upwind leg to buoy CN
Lisa already far ahead at buoy CN

Behind Lisa happened some exciting duells and positions got changed already several times.

Adeli and Nicci and Lucy and Jenna in their duells at buoy ON
Balut at buoy ON
Deacon and Sea in their duell at buoy ON
Cilian at the end of the fleet

Lisa sailed without any mistakes still far ahead.

Nicole chased now by Adeli

On the long leg to Degrand island Lucy could pass Nicci

and Deacon started to chase Balut.

Moon finished 2nd
Nicole finished 3rd
Adeli finished 4th

Our awesome video reporter Hakiria tried something new with the video and unfortunately something went wrong with the finish of Moon and Nicole. Thats why you see Nicole nearly finishing and then changing her suddenly into Adeli. But after that all went well again with the video and you see the others finishing.

Adeli finished 4th, Balut 5th, Deacon 6th, Nicci 7th and Cilian 8th (video by Hakiria)

I have to say a little bit about our unlucky racers, who crashed. Viv crashed already right after the start. She tried to resit on her boat, but sl said she is still sitting on it after her crash and rezzing a new boat didnt help as well. So she couldnt continue the race. Somewhere on the first quarter of the race Rugger crashed and Sea somewhere after buoy ON. Jenna got disconnected somewhere after buoy CS, came back and could continue far behind the fleet. I thought the whole time she was crashed and didnt see her at all anymore, but Hakiria caught her at her finish.

the brave Jenna finishing 9th after her crash (video by Hakiria)

The last who crashed was Lucy. It must have happened somewhere in the last quarter and she couldnt find her boat anymore to continue the race. I feel very sorry for all the racers who couldnt see the finish. 9 finishers out of 13 sounds quite good for us reading this but not really for the ones who crashed. They couldnt get the reward for their sailing, which is really sad after an exciting race with lots of changing positions and duells along the course.

  1. “9 finishers out of 13 sounds quite good”
Almost 1/3 of the fleet crashing on freshly restarted sims doesn’t sound so good for me. 😦
    Shame on LL! 😐
