Lead by a super duper director:

Whoa! Everybody and their granny is in the new Denis Villeneuve movie. What movie you ask. Well, this here:
This promises to be great. And after Lynch’s totally silly fiasco and Alejandro Jodorowsky‘s doomed non-starter this can only turn out better than both its ancestors. The unfortunately existing one and the one that unfortunately died during the process.
I saw a headline about the remake yesterday and thought, “oh, no… not again!” I hope it turns out well!

Well, I’ve never read the novel(s), only know the pretty crappy Lynch flick, so I expect quite something good now.

Ditto. All I really know is the movies’s sand worms and Sting in a weird speedo.

Weird, eh? The most memorable thing in a giant scifi movie is a half-naked Sting. Doesn’t speak highly of the cinematic qualities, does it?

Lol half naked sting. That’s still a bit weird all these years later.

The speedo was stranger than 1/2 naked Sting!

I read the original books after seeing the David Lynch version. To say the books are dense is an understatement! I don’t think there’s any way to make a film of the first book and include all the details. The Lynch version doesn’t really stand up well to scrutiny on repeat viewing, and that is going to cast a long shadow over this new adaptation.

Maybe Hollywood and audience can unite in stating What Lynch version? Never happened! No shadows cast over this fresh Dune! 😉
I hear Disney/LucasFilm are planning something similar with the complete hogwash 7,8,9 SW trilogy. Milking the dead cow (coz Disney) but denying it entry into the canon. I guess it’s the best they can do now.
