Race Day 16 with Bandit 25R at TrYC

Yesterday Lucy, Nicole, Yvonne, Callie and Dahlia joined me on our B25 course with wind from North West and 18knots

fleet preparing for the start

The weather conditions were actually pretty ok. SL stole on one of the last crossings Nicoles boat after she had just managed to pass Lucy after a long exciting duell and i got disconnected in the middle of the race, but found my boat before it got returned and had to chase the fleet which passed me while i was trying to come back.

The start was one of the cloesest we had so far. All boats left very close together the Harbor and all very in my back. After buoy 2 the fleet got sorted a bit for the Genn leg, surrounded still quite close together the Roman boat and were still together at buoy 4. I could manage to get a bit more ahead on the following Spin leg. Lucy and Yvonne had a very exciting and close duell on that leg. Their dots melted several times to one dot on my minimap. The following crossing after buoy 5 disconnected me, but i got back on the boat after the fleet passed me.
The duell between Lucy and Yvonne seemed to be a bit too exciting for Lucy. After making some little mistakes Nicole caught up with her and Yvonne managed to sail away from them. Callie and Dahlia found their safe place in the fleet and followed the fighting ones with a little distance.
I started slowly my chase for Lucy and Nicole. Entering the Dunai area i passed Nicole and at the NorthWest buoy i passed Lucy, but Yvonne sailed without any mistakes too far ahead to catch her as well. Nicole could manage to pass Lucy as well, but then a crossing stole her boat.

Lucy and Callie finishing
Dahlia finishing

I couldnt get more finishing pictures. Yvonne finished before me and poor Nicoles boat was gone.

Here are the results from yesterday:

  1. Still much too many bunged sim xings, what’s up with LL? Now that the move into the cloud is imminent they feel like they don’t need to care about anything anymore?

    • The disconnect crashes are still there and i dont think they will ever be better again.
And the stolen boat, well i can only guess. Sometimes the sim in front of me rezzes much too late. In the past i Kept on sailing and it will pulled me off the boat at the crossing and the boat disappeared. Now when i see it in time i moor, wait the 2-3 sec and continue sailing. That isnt really a fast race strategy but it keeps me in the race.

        • well again Orca i have 5Mbit/s now. It was raised from 3Mbit/s 3 weeks ago and it already feels nearly heavenly. A ping test into our net is not what tells me the truth (my ping time there is 23ms)…Its more the pingtime into sl. Normally its about 180-200ms… but can go up to 300ms sometimes… For example User in California have a pingtime into sl of 30ms…
and i am on the cable…never WiFi

          • Exactly. Your 5 embits should be quite enough, it’s the bad latency of 300 m/s that kills me in SL, I’m on pretty fast 50/50 fibre right now, but does it help me when sailing? Not the least little bit since I route to the UK and then do the hop over the big pond to Long Island/New York and then to the west coast = 300 m/s, which is about a 3rd of a second, kinda long time to fuk something up in computing.

But I was also worried about your disconnects. Shouldn’t happen!

You on cable? Like cable TV? Uh oh. :/

But being plugged in = Good Girl! 🙂

            • the disconnects still happen and not only to me and not as much as 1.5years ago, but they still happen. And in this case its no matter of my Internet speed they happened with 3Mbits and they happen with 5Mbits.
For example: I left a sim, turned around a buoy, tried to enter the sim again…and what shall i say: disconnect…

And no here in the country side i have satellite television and for my PC the DSL cable…

              • Yeah right. Nobody’s watching cable TV anymore in Germany, so the cable company uses it for internet. But I hear it’s more trubbel than joy. 😮
Same here in SA, if you wanna get some decent TV experience with all the private stations you gotta go satellite. But that’s flakey too, since we only got one satellite or so. Lybia’s Gadaffi was busy lauching multiple com and TV satellites into space for all of Africa, when he was so rudely interrupted and killed. 😮

Rich country, bestest health care system, bestest nurses and doctors, best educated people, basically no unemployment – of course the French and American secret services had to initiate a “revolution” and kill order … and now Lybia is indeed a shithole and a whole continent sits in the dark. 😦
