Windsurfing Race Day 12A with Sea Boss Rider at TrYC

After the crash Desaster from last week we had yesterday a quite good day. First race all 5 finished and second race 3 of 5 finished.
Lucy, Nicole, Sanja and Sea joined me for these races. We did first the reversed and afterwards the normal course with Wind North and 21knots.

First race all sailors found their place in the race between second and third buoy and kept that until the end of the race and all were really happy they finished.
Second race was a lot more exciting, but a bit sad as well.
I had a desaster start, started chasing Sanja and Lucy and could catch and pass them one after another. They started then a really exciting and very close Duell. Board next to board and sometimes i thought the dots were melting to one on my minimap. Sadly Sanja crashed after last buoy and this exciting Duell didnt see the deserved finish.
Nicole crashed sometimes during the race and i passed her lonely board somewhere on the course.
Sea started 3 weeks ago sailing the Sea Boss Rider and improved a lot with it already.

Here is the close finish between Sea (front) and Lucy in first race

and here are the results from yesterday:

  1. “First race all 5 finished and second race 3 of 5 finished.”
    But not good enough! 😦
5 avies, spread out over mutiple sims, stuff like that should work flawlessly 5 out of 5 times, not 3 out of 5 times. Now imagine you had a fleet of 10 on some more complex scripted vehicles. 😮 A survival rate of less than 100% is inacceptable and LL knows of the problem since Kanker introduced his first Tako and the first races were started … in 2006.
    14 fukn years ffs!!!

    • It’s all fun and games with physics, Cherri … until you crash at some sim xing and your avie gets tumbled around in 100 meters height for some time and then your virtual world turns dark and after 10 minutes of staring at the non-responsive screen LL informs you that you’ve been logged out. 😮
Apart from that it’s quite remarkable how good the actual sailing simulations are done by our boatwrights. Some weather models even have random direction and strength shifts built in, like sudden gusts and currents and wave height and length and stuff. Makes sailling pretty involved and realistic. It’s just LL not being up to the requirements.
And now we’re being moved to the cloud. I have a bad feeling about this.

        • Kinda. But not really, no. I meant it more in the sense of “smile while you watch the word burning.”
Because it will happen. Every day of every week.
I can remember we once had a very short period of relative calm and on ok-ish grid, when only the most stupid and unprepared crashed. That period had duration of a couple weeks and stopped abruptly when LL introduced some new shiny shit to the grid and I remember some Linden even giving us good tipps, like “When you crash on simborders just use TP.” 😦 That was in 2013 I guess.

      • Windsurfing looks like a blast even with its logging out. ( have to find a place to check it out) I’ve surfed before (a long time ago) on SL and thought it was a hoot! Each time I try to drive a car in SL I end up getting logged out since I’m stuck in the ground and can’t even get out of the car LOL (keep your eyes opened for me on the SL roads and beware 😛

        • Places to rez a water vehicle galore, Cherri. Pretty much every single NE corner of Blake Sea sims is rezable, we have a marked rez area by the docks in Triumphal and you find rez spots at all race lines on all SL continents and each and every yacht club has rezing facilities.

When driving a car already crashes you, I guess it’s time for a new, faster internet connection. Or a better computer. Or both. SL ain’t a game per se but it needs a beefy gaming rig to play well and look good.

Or just drive slower. On my past transcontinental bike rides I rarely went faster than 1st or 2nd gear and I stopped pretty often to make photos. Still crashed.

But whatever you do: PLUG IN! Don’t use wifi. That’s the first action to be taken.
