Manjaro 20 Released

Distribution Release: Manjaro Linux 20.0
Philip Müller has announced the release of Manjaro Linux 20.0, a major new update of the project’s rolling-release distribution, originally forked from Arch Linux, with a choice of GNOME, KDE and Xfce desktops: “After two months of development we are proud to announce Manjaro ‘Lysia’ to our community. The Xfce edition remains our flagship offering and has received the attention it deserves. Only a few can claim to offer such a polished, integrated and leading-edge Xfce experience. With this release we ship Xfce 4.14 and have mostly focused on polishing the user experience with the desktop and window manager. Also we have switched to a new theme called Matcha. A new feature Display-Profiles allows you to store one or more profiles for your preferred display configuration. We also have implemented auto-application of profiles when new displays are connected. Our KDE edition provides the powerful, mature and feature-rich Plasma 5.18 desktop environment with a unique look-and-feel, which we completely re-designed in 2020.” Here is the full release announcement. Download (pkglist): manjaro-gnome-20.0-200426-linux56.iso (2,652MB, SHA256, signature, torrent), manjaro-kde-20.0-200426-linux56.iso (2,961MB, SHA256, signature, torrent), manjaro-xfce-20.0-200426-linux56.iso (2,688MB, SHA256, signature, torrent).

Manjaro 20 will make waves! I bet on that. Maybe even finally push fukn MX of its throne … who knows. If you’re old enough you may remember a short period when Manjaro, after a steady, slow climb, inhabited the top rank in the stupid DistroWatch charts. Only to be pushed off by MX shitcrap. 😦

Well, anyway, as I already said often enough if you …

  • can live with Xfce as your desktop
  • don’t mind not being on “real” ArchLinux
  • don’t mind a strong and helpful community
  • give a fuk about Orca pouting in her corner
  • are not, like, totally stupid

… then Manjaro would even be recommendable as a n00bie system. That shit is so unbelievably polished and user friendly these days, it really knocks on Mint’s door, calling your green favourite out for a duel. There are not many Linux distros who put their users’ needs and wants in their focus. Debian, amongst others, is a prime example of nerdiness. The Deb devs wouldn’t know what user-friendliness even means when you hit them over the head with it. They don’t tick like the rest of us.

Mint and Manjaro are much better in that respect, they are Linux distros made for human beings!

Find all the info and download links hereabouts! And if you’re a person of distinction you’ll choose the Mate desktop (but please check first if that is already available as version 20.0).

I know you can hardly wait to hear my opinion, right?

Is Manjaro better than Mint?

Depends on your mindset and your level of abilities and mindset. I’d say technically, yes it is muchmuch better than Mint. Come on doubters, it’s system imminent!

Is Manjaro better than Debian and Debian spin-offs and forks?

Is Manjaro better than Ubuntu?

Bitch wot? /me kicks you in the balls for even asking such a crappy question! :/
