Most exciting thing happening today: Failed ArchLinux update! 😮
Ok, shit n stuff. 😦 Doesn’t matter, we still have the trusty terminal and a gaggle of super duper geeky commands to type in. Mhm …
If this was Windows my computer would be ruined by now and unusable until Microsoft finds a solution. But since this is Linux – and not even some run-of-the-mill Ubuntu shit but glorious always up-to-date Arch … we just don’t do nothing!
Hubby just had the same update failure on his machine, so we know it’s not a personal Orca problem but system wide, concerning all Arch Linux installs all over the world. So we’ll just sit it out and wait for a solution from upstream. Which will come through later today, maybe tomorrow or one of the next days. Won’t probably take any longer. And even if … as you can see I’m blogging right now. On my machine. It works as fine as ever, as it did before the update.
With this little post I just wanted to take the wind out of the sails of all the petty minded Archo-phobics who always live in fear of a failed update and that it would wreak havoc with their computers.
Oh, I have another idea. I am stupid but I know how to copypasta into my search engine. Let’s see if some super geek already found a self-help solution …
Ok, now I need to study how to delete the p11-kit-trust.so file and make room for install of the new one. Or sumfink like dat. Oh looksie, here come the rescue team …
Now let’s see if a not-too-clever housewife can do it …
