Ya, it’s sad. And even sadder is the little fact that it was probably me who killed that bold little warrior machine. No, I won’t go into the boring yet shocking details, suffice it to say it’s gotta do with boredom, aimless yet frantic activism, generous amounts of isopropyl-alcohol accidently spritzed across the motherboard, some chip frying and no supplier being able to source such a very old proprietary special small form factor board anywhere in the fukn country. 😦
To make it short: MiniMe dieded from a combined heat- and electrical stroke.
But what now?
Oh, you know, no silly wannabe Linux distro tester can live with only two desktop computers. Particularly since there are three monitors adorning my workdesk. One of them permanently being dark doesn’t look right. There is no way back to that sorry state! No, nay, never!!!
Let me present to you: Gagamore!
She’s Gaga’s youngerer, sexiererer sister, much more fasterer and advancederer and … ugh, let me quickly pull the specs sheet:
LenovoThinkCentre M900 TD
Intel Core i5-6500T
8 GB RAM
500 GB HDD
USB 3 all around
Yeah, I know that’s again not really a SL playing computer but a more than serviceable everyday office power machine. Come on, 6th gen i5 is 2 generations more recent than even my whole pride, MiniMax’s i5-4690, and as Gaga’s weak i3 anyway, and should be good for some gaming if that thing had a decent GPU. But as you know, I don’t have these things to play SL, but for serious distro testing purposes.
Of course a first start revealed a brandspanking new Win10 installation. Shriek! 😮 No sir, this can not stand. Let’s kill that shit and make the computer useful again …
Instalire, instalare as the old Romans said … and “the spy that was too slow” is no more …
… and GagaMore is ready to start her future life in Linux like every clever, selfrespecting new Linux user does; powered by a fresh Linux Mint 19.2 with Cinnamon desktop. 😉
(… and so can you!)
I hope y’all are appropriately impressed and a bit jealous now. You know I don’t take these impulsive decisions lightly, but always with you lot on my mind. 🙂
