My conclusion after watching this video is that I’m not. Not because I can’t adapt to it but because, simply and stubbornly, I just don’t wanna! =^.^=
I can’t speak for any of you, guys but all this has zero appeal for me. So sorry to say, the Lindens can take their Sansar shit and stuff it where the sun don’t shine. 🙂 Got no time, no patience, so money and no need for second hand experiences. Why life my life vicariously through a machine with premade worlds, premade experiences and premade emotions when I have a real life to live where all that is available for no extra costs? And, just like we jokingly said about Second Life, like 10 years ago, the graphics of RL are just soooo much better and realistic, so why swap?
I think we might already be plugged into one of these and just don’t know it.

That might be the future. Between surrogates and virtual reality, nobody will leave their homes.

But that’d be terrible, Tom. I mean we would all end up overweight, fat, unhealthy, prone to sickness and heart attacks and apoplectic strokes and all that shitty stuff. Well, I’ll leave the house at least once a day for yoga class and water aerobics and grocery shopping and long walks on the beach.

I know. I’m not fond of Virtual Reality because of all the consequences you just mentioned.

Silly rabbits. Don’t you know we are all living in a galaxy that is embedded and carried along by a cat and her collar?

Yes, we know, sis. But we adore the cat … and she didn’t tell us to flee into VR and stop our real lifes, did she?

Wow, never thought of vr that way. With that in mind though why don’t you check out my post all about whether the oculus rift is actually worth its price: https://freshtech.home.blog/2019/05/12/oculus-rift-is-it-still-worth-it/

See, I never thought of VR like you, in a classical gamer’s way. I’m a over 50 y/o housewife, not a gamer, so I wouldn’t even pay 10 Woolongs for something I’d never use anyway. But let me quote from your very good blogpost, please:
“Is it still worth it?
Quick answer: no. The Rift is just too much of a hassle to setup and with all of the extras you have to buy like sensors and VR covers it’s just not the best headset for your money anymore.”
And that’s exactly it! The setup alone would take more time as I’m willing to spend in world on some days. I don’t need virtual reality to read and answer my IMs and group notices and do some building on my land or go sailing. Total overkill and so not worth it.
