Shields@Noon – June 30th, 2018

Last week we haven’t a race due to lack of racers. This week Moon was here, and Justin (Stevell) came for the 1st time. Welcome Justin, I wish you like been here.

In first race, C2, Moon had an undeniable win, while Justin had problems with the start. Yes, starts in TrYC are tricky especially with the low acceleration Shields.

Hah! I guess I remember Justin/SteveLL from times when I was still actively racing and RDing. So he’s kinda oldbie by now and – of course – leaves all the younglings behind in the dust. =^.^=

What happened to the SL Sailing Community in the last couple years? People forgot how to sail? People too lazy to keep a community going and do the least little bit to even cross the start line inside of one minute after start? Back when I was a n00b we practised, sometimes for hours. We practised starts, so we crossed the line in seconds after start, and we had planned our races and figured everything out even before we arrived at the hosting club. We had people like Chaos Mandelbrot and Hannelore who taught racing tactics, Jane who wrote about all the theoretical stuff and made knowledgeable boats tests. And we had people organising parties and events. We had 6 or more races at all clubs each and every day. As a race sailor you could spend the whole day, doing nothing but TP from club to club and go racing.

Where did all the energy go? What is that shitty new attitude? Why is everybody so lame nowadays? Where are the “Let’s! Fukn! Do! It!” people?

Lucy, you’re doing a great job at TrYC and for The Shields. But why aren’t there many more racing events? Why isn’t the community bustling with energy and activities anymore?
