No fear, this ain’t gonna be the umpteenth attempt to persuade you to show your talent and write for Thar She Blows! But this is a reminder that November is the fantastical famous NaNoWriMo, the National Novel Writing Month. Huckleberry Hax blogged about a class he already held in SL for participants in this all-American writing event.
So, yes, you missed Huck’s event already. But you didn’t miss the NaNoWriMo. It starts on November 1 and goes through the whole month. You goal shall be to end up with a story of at least 50,000 words. It’s simple rules and a simple goal. 1,667 words/day is no biggy, right? Not when you’re in the zone, not when you’re highly motivated and kissed by the muse. 😡
So, didn’t Orca always claim to be some writer of sorts? Why doesn’t she take part in the NaNoWriMo? Firstly, I’m not American. Secondly, I write exclusively in German. Thirdly I’m much too clever and professional to engage in amateur practice rounds like the NaNoWriMo. Fourthly I’m much too busy twiddling my thumbs. And fivethly … it’s all bullshit, all just cheap excuses. In reality I’m burned out, haven’t written a single line of prose in almost 20 years, have hit a wall and never found my way back in the groove. I tried it a couple times but I fail to write myself into the zone. 😦
Anyhoo, any Orcablog reader planning and preparing to jump right into the writing action? Please let me know. And if you want and are not afraid of some small publicity, you are heartily invited to publish your daily progress in this blog. Maybe, if you like, we/I can help with some proofreading and redacting n stuff.
It’s the power of the collective, the power of the peer group. It’s never to be underestimated.
