Shields@Noon in TrYC – September 9th

A tie day in TrYC. In first race boys beat girls, in second, girls rocked! Paul and Indra didn’t come, Indra is known to privilege her RL saturdays over our lil races, and who can blame her for this? Paul? Maybe he couldn’t come because of the hurricane. Elli and Lamp came just after the monster had passed over them, minutes before the race, so maybe this is the case for Paul. Anyway I wish deep in heart that everybody is OK.

I both races we had a close group of three. In second I made a port start, which let me reach 1st mark with a single tack while the others made a starboard start, having to tack twice to the buoy. This and being lucky for not having to give preference for the stb boats gave me a good advantage, making the rest of the race just bureaucratic to me.

  1. Last thing I heard was t hat Irma has reached Miami now and, in typical American fashion, water and electric supply went out. I thought Irma was sposed to travel up the Florida west coast to Tampa but … Anyhoo, let’s hope all our American colonists make it thru that storm alive and healthy and their insurances will paaaaaaay!!!

Apart from that huge congratz on your “beaurocratic” win, Lucy. It often pays to not follow the herd but go your own way. So it was in fact everything but beaurocratic but a pretty creative and daredevil move that gave you the decisive edge and led to your success.
