An American band that couldn’t be more American if they tried, the Black Keys are pillaging through the last 50-60 years of Americana: Blues, rock, country, soul, surf-rock, and a good portion of British glam rock.
The Black Keys are a duo but obviously supported by a full band in live gigs. The two band members Dan Auerbach (guitar, vocals) and Patrick Carney (drums) are childhood friends and making music together since forever. They even dropped out of university together to follow their musical path.
I guess there is not much to write about such a monofocussed band as the Black Keys. These guys live, breathe, sweat and shit music. And they don’t do much else.
I’m not the biggest Black Keys fan ever but they deliver the perfect soundtrack for long hauls on dusty highways. Particularly their album El Camino with mostly uptempo songs is just an invitation to hit the road.
If you’re into no-too contemporary contemporary music you will enjoy the Black Keys. These guys are just so much fun.

That Melbourne, Australia poster is fabulous!… the band, themselves, do nothing for me, at all.

Mhm, that’s a strong, if a bit misleading, graphic. One expects a heavy metal band behind this poster. And agreed as well on the Black Keys’ musical style. They’re not for everybody, heck, they are not even for me most of the time. But they are good for tapping my feet while I sit here at the computer. =^.^=
