The viewer speedtest. September 2016.

TrYC_001

This test was performed by sailing the C3 course at TrYC 3 times non-stop in a WildWind RC-44. Each viewer was started with an empty cache. Graphics settings, network settings and cache settings were the same for all viewers tested. 64bit versions of the viewer was used when available. All viewers ran on Windows 10. Fps was measured with Fraps

Settings used: Cache size: max. Network: 1500 Kbps. Graphics: Ultra with no changes.

Hardware: Screen size: 2560 x 1440. Graphics card: Nvidia GTX 1080. CPU: 4790K@4.6GHz.

  1. A clear cache is still in place, despite LL advise to not clear cache, that will only make sense if a Sl user stays on 1 sim at all times. Perhaps the LL idea of a good performance for Sansar, as they will not alow crossing sims there.

  2. You girls are sooo right. Emptying cache is for n00bs exclusively. =^.^=
    I still have a little criticism about Trap’s test: Why no test with Singularity? It’s still the viewer of choice for action avies and friends of retro tech. And why no comparison of Win10 vs Linux? That would be of great interest to me and many other avies as well I guess.
    I know that Trap has the super hardware and is dualbooting both, Win and Linux.

  3. @Trap: Thanks very much. I knew it, I knew it, I just knew that Singu is the fastest shit on the market!

    @ZZ: LL recommends 500 kb as far as I know. But I’m also on 1500 since I hear too fast settings create lag. However, my connection never reaches such speeds anyway. And according to LL 500 kb is more than fast enough for a fluid unlaggy SL experience.
